The music and text also follow, presented in three sections with the third section featuring a combination of the first two. Lush, indulgent harmonies and steady rhythms provide a soothing quality that matches the beautiful simplicity of the text. Lovesong also captures the excitement of two becoming one, with hopeful optimism that, someday, everyone will be able to coexist in harmony. This was the first collaboration between composer Cy Giacomin and poet Rachel Abma, who are now married and continue to collaborate as artists. Commissioned by Pro Coro Canada in 2013.
