“See Music in a New Light”

September 6, 2013

The Leading Note is pleased to announce that we now carry the Triplet Light Music Stand. This innovative Canadian design makes it much easier for musicians to read their pages in dimly lit concert halls. The stand has been used by the Chamber Players of Canada and many other renowned artists.

Created by Ottawa’s Jack McGowan, the Triplet has a specially-designed LED lamp built into the base of the stand that lights the music from below. The stand is plugged in with a small, unobtrusive cable that runs down the tripod support. With the built in dimmer switch, you can control the brightness to suit your needs. There are no bulbs to replace and the LED lights in the stand are designed to last for 25 years!

This new stand eliminates the need for gooseneck lights that wrap around the top of the music. Page turns are easy; there are no cables or protruding arms hanging down over the music. The musician’s view of the conductor and fellow players is not obscured by bulbous accessories mounted directly in the player’s line of sight.

The lamp is built into a lengthwise aperture at the front of the music support. With such a placement, the light will illuminate both typical music books and thicker scores or fakebooks. The lens is carefully designed to graduate the light along the entire height of the page. All the light is focused on the page so there is no wasted energy by shining light up to the ceiling or down to the floor.

Included with the stand is a lower ledge that can be used to store pencils, reeds, tuners and other accessories. The Triplet’s modular design allows the music stand to be flipped upside-down to light the music from above where this is preferred. In this arrangement, the lower ledge serves as the support for the music.

By removing the tripod stand, the Triplet can also be used by pianists to light the music on their keyboards. Without the traditional gooseneck lamp above to interfere with page turns, oversized scores are easily managed. Multiple stands can even be linked together to light three, four or more pages across the width of the keyboard!

An optional battery pack can be attached to make the stand wireless. With this add-on the Triplet can be used outside where no power source is available. Because the stand is made of steel, magnets can be attached to secure pages in windy conditions.

You can order the Triplet Light Music Stand, the optional battery pack, or convenient travel case from our online store. We have a demonstration model in the shop so you can see it in person! For more information, watch this promotional video created by the manufacturer:
