OrKidstra in the News

Bruno Schlumberger, The Ottawa Citizen

The Leading Note Foundation‘s OrKidstra program performed their annual Holiday Concert this past December and we are so proud of what the kids have accomplished.  Many thanks to Steven Mazey at the Ottawa Citizen for his wonderful coverage of this event!  Here is a sample of what he had to say:

“The smallest children plucked the strings of their miniature violins to Pop Goes the Weasel. Tiny choir members sang carols. The advanced string players offered a Telemann concerto and Vivaldi’s Winter. The young performers wrapped it up with a rousing rendition of Jingle Bells that brought the crowd to its feet. . . .

“Ottawa’s music community has been a huge supporter from the beginning, with many  musicians and ensembles giving fundraising concerts. Part of the proceeds of the  Viennese Opera Ball in February will go to the program. A few Orkidstra  trumpeters will perform at the event, alongside the professional players.”

A beautiful photo spread and article appeared in the print edition of the Citizen today.  There is also a short video that can also be found with the online edition of the Citizen’s article.  Stay tuned for more exciting events as OrKidstra celebrates its 5th anniversary!
