The Leading Note deals with a number of local schools - primarily high schools, but also community centres and various music programs. In particular, we supply the music for an ever-growing number of high-school choirs. Other common material supplied includes piano methods and theory books. We also provide the books each semester for a number of music courses at the University of Ottawa.
Heart of the City Piano Program
One program that deserves special mention is the "Heart of the City Piano Program". This program uses volunteer teachers to provide piano lessons to underpriviledged students at a handful of schools across the city and was initiated by Bettina Choo in 2005 (and subsequently taken over by Sarah Saliba). For more information about the "Heart of the City Piano Program" here in Ottawa, or to volunteer your services, you can contact Sarah through the University of Ottawa Circle K Club. The website is . You can also visit the national Heart of the City Piano Program website at .
As part of our policy of supporting youth music, The Leading Note donated a number of piano method and theory books at the start of this program and continues to supply books to the program at greatly reduced prices.
